Duration : 4 Days - 3 Nights
Route : Hanoi - Ba Be Lake - Ban Gioc Waterfall - Hanoi
Day one starts when you hop on a 5-hour drive journey to Ba Be National Park.
Once you reach Ba Be Lake, get on a 3-hour boat ride along the Nang River winding through the wild and rugged land until you end up at Puong Cave filled with magical stalactites and stalagmites.
Spend 1-hour walking along Cam Village for a good insight of the local Tay people and learn more about their long-founded rice cultivation.
The boating ends at Widow Island in the middle of the lake where you can have a swim in the jade-like water before returning to your homestay in Pac Ngoi Village, home of the Tay people right next to the lake.
After breakfast, enjoy the freshest moment here before paying a visit to Hua Ma, a dry cave with a chain of thousands of stalactites.
This is a 1-hour hike up to the mountain peak and deep underground for an amazing exploration.
Later on, head to Cho Ra Town for an exotic lunch before a 3-hour drive to Quang Uyen, the frontier district which is inhabited mostly by the Nung ethnic communities.
The people here still retain their century-old cultural traditions and are recognizably distinct from others by their costume.
Reach your homestay in an incense-making village early in the afternoon. Make this a great opportunity to wander around and discover the truest village life.
If time permits, spend 30 minutes to 1 hour climbing up the top of the mountain for an absolute panoramic view.
Take a morning exercise after a long sleep to enjoy the freshest air before kicking your day started with an available local breakfast arranged just for you.
Get back to the road again to the exotic Ban Gioc Waterfall, the fourth biggest border waterfall across the globe cutting through Vietnam and China.
Take a long walk around Phuoc Sen village afterward and sneak through the Nung tribal village where the knives are made as a type of traditional handicraft.
Picnic lunch at the waterfall is what you would do next. Then, pay a visit to Nguom Ngao Cave, formerly known as Tiger Cave before heading to Cao Bang for an insight of its local wet market to end the day.
Say goodbye to Cao Bang and return Hanoi.
Day four gives you a chance to stop in Lang Son to visit Mother’s Temple and the historical Dong Khe battle, a famous battlefield during the First Indochina War.
After lunch in Dong Dang, join in a stroll to explore the Chi Lang Gate (also known as the Gate of Monsters) where a huge number of Chinese invaders approaching Vietnam entered and defeated by Vietnamese defenders.
