Tour Code : AOT03
Travel Style : Adventure & off the beaten track
Duration : 3 Days - 2 Nights
Route : Hanoi - Mai Chau - Pu Luong Nature Reserve - Hanoi
Day one starts with our guide picking you up for a 4-hour journey to Mai Chau, home to the spectacular views around every bending road.
The first stop is set at the top of Thung Khe Pass, where you happen to admire the magnificent landscape down below from above, or visit a local fresh market run by the Muong indigenous.
Upon arrival at Pom Coong Village in Mai Chau, get ready for a short walk around and get to know more about the daily activities in the community of the Thai people before a local lunch.
After that, move on to Pu Luong Nature Reserve where you start a 7-km trek through the lush forests.
Arrive at your homestay late in the evening and take this pleasant time to discover more about the daily life and culture of the White Thai locals during your stay and dinner with the host. This authentic dinner feast consists of the best exotic culinary, such as homemade rice wine, and especially, the traditional wooden stilt house ignites the whole trip at the end of the day.
If you wake up early enough, you may be able to enjoy sunrise behind the mountains and shining down on the farmers as they begin another day of hard graft in the fields. If time permits, join the farmers in their morning activities to get a real experience of how life in rural Vietnam is actually like.
After breakfast, take part in a 6-hour trek.
The first stretch can be a little challenging with steep climbs and stream crossings, but it is totally worthwhile as the next stretch will reward you with the best glorious views of the valley, emerald terraced rice paddies, lush rainforests and crystal-clear streams.
Stop for a picnic lunch on the way at Eo Ken Village. The trek then leads you to Kho Muong which is known as one of the most beautiful villages in Vietnam. This would be an ideal chance to stroll around the village and join the villagers in their daily activities, or simply relax in an eco-homestay founded by FFI (Flora and Fauna International) in conjunction with the local villages.
This trip also offers you a chance to drink in the tranquil ambience of Kho Muong and socialise with the friendly locals. Spend the night over at a traditional Thai eco-stilt house in the heart of Nua Village.
After breakfast, start one last trek for 3 hours to Kit Village.
Starting with a nice easy stretch, make it a good time to relax and connect with the authentic and fresh surroundings before returning along the same way to Nua Village.
Take a short rest after a morning trekking time before packing your bags, heading to the main thoroughfare, getting picked up by our driver for a later lunch along the way.
In the afternoon, back to Hanoi for another 4-hour drive.
